Why A Smile Makeover Quote Changes
A smile makeover quote changes when the proposed treatment scope changes. The useful comparison is the original plan against the revised one: which teeth, materials, procedures and travel services changed? This guide explains that comparison without creating a fixed makeover package or an invented patient quotation.

Compare The Original And Revised Scope
Ask for the original and revised plans in writing. Compare the same fields on both documents rather than comparing only the headline totals. The smile makeover quote-reading checklist explains what a complete line should contain; here the question is why that line changes.

These are comparison questions, not an HCT patient example or a price formula. The clinician explains the treatment changes; the revised quote states their financial scope. A unit price multiplied by a new tooth count does not automatically produce a named package total.
When Material Or Tooth Count Changes
Compare the restoration and material on the original and revised plans. If a veneer becomes a crown, or the number of treated teeth changes, ask the clinician to explain the reason before comparing fees. A changed number is not enough information on its own.
Check that the revised row is a published unit, a named offer or a bespoke quotation. These scopes are not interchangeable and a unit multiplication does not create a package.

Preparation, Gum Contouring And Whitening
Preparation, gum contouring, whitening and bonding move the fee because they are different pieces of work. A prepared ceramic facing, a gum-edge change, a colour visit and a resin repair do not sit on one row. The table above is where those published lines are named. This section is what the choice means in the mouth.
When Enamel Is Removed
A veneer or a crown needs space. The Oral Health Foundation describes the first veneer visit as removing a small amount of enamel from the front of the tooth so the facing does not feel bulky. That enamel does not grow back. Local anaesthetic is the usual approach for that visit. The tooth can still feel sensitive afterwards.
When The Tooth Can Stay Uncut
Bonding can repair a smaller chip or edge with resin, and whitening changes colour without a shell. If you want no enamel removed, say so before a preparation visit is booked. The honest line may then be bonding, whitening, or no cosmetic treatment yet. A wish for a particular shape can still require preparation. The examination is what settles it.
Gum Contouring
Gum contouring is the separate line for reshaping the gum edge, used when the frame of the teeth is part of the plan. It is not added because the word makeover was used. It is also not a veneer. The dentist should say which teeth are involved and what the gum visit involves before that line is accepted. This page does not turn that visit into a fixed number of healing days.
Whitening And Bonding
Laser whitening changes the colour of natural teeth. The NHS page on teeth whitening says the treatment lightens natural teeth only, and that sensitivity to cold or sweet food and drink is a possible side effect. Crowns, dentures and implants are listed there because whitening does not lighten them. A ceramic facing made afterwards has to be matched to the colour you settle on. It will not whiten later with the neighbouring teeth.
Composite bonding is the resin line, per tooth. It can suit a small chip or a narrow gap when a full shell is more than the tooth needs. Resin picks up stain sooner than ceramic. It is not an E.max veneer and it is not a zirconia veneer, so it should not be described as either one in the plan.
Risks That Belong In The Same Conversation
A facing can chip, can feel sensitive, or can loosen. A gum edge that is reshaped can be sore while it settles. Whitening can leave teeth sensitive for a time. How long a restoration lasts depends on the tooth, the bite and home care. If the bite is high after a longer edge is fitted, that tooth needs an adjustment. Tell the clinic rather than waiting for the edge to settle on its own.
When The Travel Scope Changes
A hotel or transfer can change the travel scope without changing the clinical treatment. Ask whether the revised quote adds a separate travel arrangement or replaces the named package row. The inclusions must be written on that specific offer.
