What Immediate Implant Placement Means
Immediate implant placement puts the implant into the socket on the day a tooth is removed. A temporary tooth on that day is possible only when the implant is stable. The temporary is not the finished crown, and HCT does not publish a same-day package total.

Immediate implant placement means the implant goes into the socket on the day the tooth is removed, rather than after that socket has healed. Attaching a tooth on the same day is a second decision. Dentists call that immediate loading. It is possible only when the implant is stable. The tooth fitted then is a temporary. The finished crown comes later. HCT does not publish a same-day package total. The £560 line on the price list is a single tooth with its abutment and crown, usually over two visits, and it is not a same-day fee.

What Immediate Placement Means
People use “same-day implant” for two different steps. One is when the implant is placed. The other is when a tooth is attached to it. This page separates those steps so a plan can be read without treating a temporary as a finished crown.
Immediate Placement
Immediate placement puts the implant into a fresh socket, at the same visit as the extraction. The gum may then be closed over the implant, or a temporary may be considered. Placement answers the question of where the implant sits. It does not, by itself, put a tooth on it.
A delayed plan waits for the socket to heal, often for several weeks, and places the implant into healed bone. That wait is sometimes the safer sequence when the socket is infected, the walls of the bone are thin, or a graft has to settle first. Neither sequence is chosen from a photograph. The 3D scan and the look of the socket on the day decide.
Immediate Loading
Immediate loading means a temporary tooth or short-term bridge is attached to an implant that has just been placed. The temporary lets you speak and eat soft food while the bone is still bonding to the implant. It is shaped so you do not bite hard on it. Calling that temporary a finished smile mixes the two stages.
The implant can be placed in the fresh socket and still left unloaded. In that case you go home with the gap, with a removable tooth, or with a temporary that rests on other teeth rather than on the implant. That is a complete plan, not a cancelled one.
Why The Words Get Mixed
A nickname such as “teeth in a day” describes the wish to leave with a tooth showing. It does not describe a single operation, and it does not mean the ceramic crown you keep is made that afternoon. When A Temporary Tooth Is Possible
A temporary tooth on the day of surgery is possible only when the implant is stable and the bite can leave it alone. It is not the finished crown. It is not a promise made when you book the flight.
Only When The Implant Is Stable
A new implant is held by the bone around it before that bone has bonded to the metal. If the implant rocks, a tooth attached to it can stop the bond forming. The surgeon checks that hold at placement. Soft bone, a wide socket, or infection are reasons to leave the implant without a fixed tooth. You hear that decision on the day, after the implant is in, not from the first message.
It Is Not The Finished Crown
The temporary is there so the gap is managed while healing goes on. It may be a single temporary crown or, on a larger case, a short-term bridge. The finished crown, or the finished bridge, is made when the clinician is satisfied the implant can take a normal bite. That is a later visit. The colour, the contact with the next tooth, and the way you chew are checked then.
There Is No Published Same-Day Total
HCT does not publish a same-day package total. Immediate loading is quoted after clinical assessment, because it depends on stability, how many teeth are involved, and whether the case is one tooth or an arch. There is no percentage comparison with fees in another country on this page. Check every figure on the full dental price list. A message that names a same-day total which is not on that list is not this clinic’s published fee.

The £560 Line Is A Different Offer
The published single tooth fee is £560, including the abutment and the crown. The usual plan for that line is two visits: placement first, and the crown after healing. Using £560 as the price of a temporary fitted on the day of surgery would describe a fee HCT does not publish.

Who Immediate Placement May Suit
Immediate placement is considered when a tooth cannot be kept and the socket can hold an implant on the same day. Suitability is the bone, the gum, the infection, and the medical history. It is not a decision you make from the wish to avoid a gap.
When It May Be Suitable
A tooth that is cracked, worn beyond repair, or already planned for removal can be assessed for placement into that socket. The walls of the socket need to support the implant, or the surgeon needs a graft small enough to do at the same time. The gum should be healthy enough to close, or treated first. A front tooth is often the case where a temporary is discussed, and only if the implant is firm.
When It May Not Be Suitable
Active infection, pus, or gum disease that is not under control is a reason to delay placement or to place the implant and leave it unloaded. A large graft, a sinus that must be lifted first, or bone too soft to hold the implant firmly points the same way. Pregnancy is a reason to postpone elective implant surgery. Uncontrolled diabetes and some medicines change the assessment. Tell the clinic before you book flights.
Bone, Grafts And The Sinus
If the jaw at the site is too narrow or too short, the surgeon may recommend a bone graft. The published graft fee is £130. Healing after a larger graft can mean the implant is placed at a later visit, which is no longer immediate placement. An upper back tooth sits under the maxillary sinus. When that bone is too short, a sinus lift at £380 may be part of the plan. A site that needs that lift is often the wrong site for a temporary on the same day.
Smoking is associated with more healing problems around implants. It does not automatically exclude a plan, and it is not a reason for the clinic to offer the same course as for a non-smoker. The Day Of Surgery And The Later Visit
The usual path still has two visits when a finished crown is the aim. The first visit is assessment, removal of the tooth if that is agreed, and placement of the implant. A temporary is conditional. The second visit is the finished tooth, after the clinician is satisfied the implant can be restored. The gap is often about 3 to 6 months. That range is a typical healing window, not a date stamped on every case.

Before You Travel
Consultation, a 3D CT or CBCT, and a panoramic radiograph are free for HCT implant patients. The scan can change the implant system, add a graft, or show that immediate placement should wait. Book refundable travel until that is clear. Hotel nights, airport transfers and flights are not part of the £560 line, and they are not bundled into a same-day total, because no same-day total is published.
Placement On The Day
Local anaesthetic is the usual approach. The area is numbed, and you may feel pressure. IV sedation is a separate choice at £230 a session if you and the surgeon agree to it. That sedation fee is not a general anaesthetic price. The extraction, when it is billed outside a full-arch package, is £30 for a simple removal or £100 for a surgical removal. Neither figure is a same-day package.
After the implant is seated, the surgeon decides whether a temporary can be attached. If the answer is no, the implant can still stay in the bone and heal under the gum, or the visit can stop at a graft. Leaving without a fixed tooth is part of the consent you should hear before surgery, not a surprise afterwards.
The Healing Gap
During healing the implant should not be loaded beyond what the surgeon allowed. The bond between bone and implant is explained on the page about how an implant bonds to the bone. A temporary, if you have one, is for appearance and light use. Hard or sticky food on it can disturb an implant that has not bonded yet. You can usually fly home once the team has checked the site. Follow their written advice, and check the airline’s own rules. The second trip is booked when the clinician says the crown can be made.
The Finished Crown
The crown visit is records, a try-in when needed, and fitting. The bite is checked so the new tooth does not hit early. On a front tooth the colour is checked against the neighbouring teeth in daylight, not only under the surgery lamp. You should leave knowing how to clean the margin and whom to contact if the crown feels high or loose. That crown is the finished tooth. The temporary, if there was one, has done its job by then.

Recovery, Risks And Aftercare
Expect soreness, swelling and some bruising for a few days after placement. That is the usual early course, and it is not a sign that the implant has failed. Pain during surgery is controlled with the local anaesthetic, and afterwards with the medicines the surgeon prescribes. This page does not describe the visit as free of pain.
The First Days
With immediate placement, the extraction socket and the new fixture are healing together. With immediate loading, a temporary tooth is also exposed to forces from the bite. Follow the surgeon’s loading and soft-food instructions rather than treating the temporary as a finished crown. Rest after surgery, avoid smoking and use prescribed medicines and the advised cleaning method. A little early bleeding can occur. Call the clinic if bleeding does not slow, swelling keeps increasing or a fever develops; do not adjust a loose temporary yourself.
Risks To Discuss
An implant can fail to bond. The gum around it can become inflamed. A temporary or a crown can chip, loosen, or come off. Nerves in the lower jaw can be irritated if the site is close to them. The scan is how that risk is judged before surgery. An upper implant sits near the sinus, which is why a short bone is assessed for a lift rather than forced. Infection is a risk you should hear about before you consent, including when a tooth is removed and an implant is placed in the same socket.
Published studies describe groups of patients. They do not give you a personal figure for how often implants last, and HCT does not print one on this page. A written document about an implant component, where a plan includes one, is not a statement that the crown, the gum or the bite will never need attention.
Care At Home
